British PM Theresa May Increases Threat Level to “Critical”

 In Foreign

Authorities conducting the investigation into yesterday’s terror attack in Manchester have requested that Prime Minister Theresa May increase the UK threat level to “Critical.” That is the highest threat level on the British scale, and may signal that another attack is imminent. That level has been reached twice before…this time it is because the investigators have not been able to determine whether suspect Salman Abedi was working alone.

An emergency plan that has been in place for years was triggered by the decision to raise the level. “Operation Temperer” will deploy armed military to key locations and special events such as sporting venues and concerts. According to the operation, the military officers will be under the control of police, not the other way around. Certain places of high importance will now have armed military as well, at least for the time being.

The BBC reported,

The prime minister said she did not want the public to feel “unduly alarmed” but said it was a “proportionate and sensible response.”

She said the government would take “every measure available to us” to help the police protect the public.

“The spirit of Manchester and the spirit of Britain is far mightier than the sick plots of depraved terrorists.

“That is why the terrorists will never win and we will prevail,” she said.

What happens next?

The suspect in this case was a student at Salford University. He was born in Manchester to parents of Libyan descent.

Was he working alone? The investigation is sincerely not complete, and they don’t know. They can’t take the chance if there are others out there (and there likely are, since the population of England has over 3 million Muslims). Somewhere inside that number there are radicals who want to kill.

The presence of British military may “trigger” the snowflakes, but after what happened last night, they may be able to live with it.
