Billboard in Florida: “NRA is a Terrorist Organization”
Escambia county, Florida – A billboard proclaiming that the NRA is a “Terrorist Organization” appeared after the Florida school shooting. WEARtv spoke to Claude Taylor, the man who put the message on the billboard. He thinks the message is clear: ‘something needs to be done to keep military-grade weapons out of the hands of killers.’
But none of the school shooters have ever had a “military grade weapon.” Nikolas Cruz didn’t even have a “large capacity magazine,” because he had to stop and reload frequently.
Taylor told WEARtv that the billboard is just one of about 30 that will be put up around the country soon. The tactic of the left is to attack the NRA, claiming that they push “military grade weapons. ” They are once again exchanging the truth for a lie.
Even some of the people that WEARtv spoke to were ignorant of what a “military grade weapon” really is.
“I agree with that billboard, yeah…I’m an Army brat, nobody needs a military weapon, nobody. If you’re hunting with a military weapon you’re not a hunter.” Amanda Hutchison
Here’s the problem: though the civilian AR-15 looks like a military weapon it is not.
AR-15-style rifles are no more powerful than other hunting rifles of the same caliber and in most cases are chambered in calibers less powerful than common big-game hunting cartridges like the 30-06 Springfield and .300 Win. Mag. GOA
A military machine gun is a fully automatic weapon- the AR-15s that can be purchased by civilians are only able to shoot one round per pull of the trigger. Civilians are highly restricted from owning any fully automatic gun, and have been since 1934. Nearly every civilian sporting rifle on the market had a military predecessor…but they are NOT ‘military grade’ weapons.
A military member carrying the civilian version of the AR-15 into combat might not make it out alive.
The billboard is offensive to NRA members. The NRA has been around since 1871. It was founded by Col. William C. Church and Gen. George Wingate in order to help troops learn how to shoot accurately. They now provide training to competition shooters all across the nation. They are not a “terrorist organization.”
On the other hand, the liberals who push this obnoxious narrative just might be the terrorists.
“The First Amendment or any other of the Bill of Rights amendments would be worthless without the Second Amendment. I would be happy to put up another billboard next to it that says the NRA is a patriotic organization of millions of Americans who believe in the Second Amendment.” Barry McCasland, NRA member
