Baby Shower Surprise – Rifle-in-a-Box

 In Domestic

Crestview, FL — On Sunday, military wife Veronica Alvarez-Rodriguez stopped off at the Goodwill Store looking for the perfect Baby Shower Surprise. She found the perfect one – a baby bouncer that had seemingly never been opened for $10 bucks. Whatta deal! She had no idea exactly how much of a deal she got until she opened it: She found a real Mossberg 715T semi-automatic .22 rifle. The gun was locked, but the magazine that accompanied it was loaded.

Baby Shower Surprise

“When you go to the Goodwill for a baby shower gift thinking you got a good deal on a bouncer ($10) not even opened and you end up opening a 🔫MOSSBERG 715T Semi-Auto Rifle 😱😱
FYI: This was Valparaiso Goodwill, Serial number was clean & Crestview Police said do what you want with it🏆 The gun now belongs to Baby Jonathan who is due to enter this world any day now 😂 #wegiftedhimhisfirstgun
Update: Just added video proof that gun does in fact fit in the baby bouncer box 📦 Crestview Police have the gun for 90 days.”

“Total shock for us. But also hilarious and just glad it came into safe hands with all of our husbands being military.” Veronica Alvarez-Rodriguez

Crestview Police were called, and at first, they said she could keep the rifle after checking the family IDs, but later they came and took it while the investigation is ongoing. They found the serial number “clean.” Some of the accompanying ammo does not appear to be .22LR, maybe 9mm?

“…the police department verified the weapon had not been stolen, and are now running it through a database with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives to check its purchase history. Crestview and Valparaiso Police Departments have also determined that the the firearm could have been donated at collection points between Tallahassee and Pensacola before heading to the Goodwill location Alvarez-Rodriguez purchased it from.” Military Times

The rifle is a .22 rimfire semi-automatic weapon, and the reviews are extremely mixed regarding its accuracy and quality. Since the Mossberg 715T is a .22LR that handles differently than an AR according to reviewers, someone may have become frustrated with it and threw it away.

Throwing it away in a baby bouncer box is a little weird.
