Aurora, IL Shooting at Henry Pratt Company
Kane County, IL – Four Aurora city officers and several civilians were injured when an active shooter situation broke out at the Henry Pratt Company in Southwest Aurora around 2:23 p.m.. The shooter is apparently an employee of the business, and was armed with a handgun that had a “laser scope,” according to a witness from the business. The shooter has been taken into custody.

Schools and businesses near the manufacturing company went into a “soft lockdown” as police surrounded the area and asked people to stay away. Approximately 30 people were inside the business when the shooter arrived.

Kane County Sheriff’s deputies and Aurora City responded. The ATF also responded to assist local law enforcement.
The Daily Herald reported,
“There are unconfirmed reports that at least one civilian is dead. Multiple victims are being airlifted to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. Patients also are being taken to Amita Health Mercy Medical Center in Aurora. Two people are being treated for nonlife-threatening injuries at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora.”
According to ABC7,
John Probst, a Henry Pratt employee who escaped the building, said he saw a man holding a pistol with a laser scope. He said he recognized the shooter as a coworker…
… Probst said he saw other coworkers injured and that the shooter was firing indiscriminately.
“One of the guys was up in the office, he said this person was shootin’, and, he come running down and he was bleeding pretty bad, and the next thing you know he was walking back and forth, I heard more shots, and we just left the building,” Probst said.
Probst said he and a coworker escaped through the back door.
The Henry Pratt Company manufactures valves for
“potable water, wastewater, power generation and industrial markets.” It is one of the nation’s largest manufacturers of those valves.
