Arming the Enemy – More Weapons Given to al-Qaeda

 In Military, opinion

The United States has forfeited ammunition, weapons, trucks, tanks, and other items originally meant for “moderate” Muslims. Weapons sent to Iraq and Syria have ended up in the hands of our enemies on a regular basis.  Now word comes of an American trained Syrian commander who literally handed over six coalition-provided trucks and ammunition to a man linked to the al-Nusra (Al-Qaeda in Syria) front.

Problems

Initially, the Pentagon denied anything was amiss. But after news came of the $500 Million boondoggle called “train and equip Syrian rebels” only ended up with 4 or 5 fighters active in Syria, they quickly had to change their tune.

The Washington Post wrote,

American-trained Syrian fighters gave at least a quarter of their U.S.-provided equipment to al-Qaeda’s affiliate in Syria early this week, the U.S. Central Command said late Friday.

In a statement correcting earlier assertions that reports of the turnover were a “lie” and a militant propaganda ploy, the command said it was subsequently notified that the Syrian unit had “surrendered” some of its equipment — including six pickup trucks and a portion of its ammunition — to Jabhat al-Nusra, al-Qaeda’s arm in Syria.

Arming the enemy

American arms have consistently ended up in the hands of ISIS and al-Qaeda. TOW anti-tank missiles. Stinger missiles (SAMs). Brand new Humvees. Big weapons, little weapons, pickup trucks, ammunition…all have ended up confiscated or outright given to the enemies of America.

Pictures of terrorists riding in brand new American trucks have been plastered all over the internet. Yet the government continues to send weapons to those who are not trustworthy. It is a failed policy and they seem to have no idea how to fix it.

ISIS-6

From Benghazi to they Syrian situation, this administration has continually armed our enemies by  default. Weapons given to the Iraqis  were abandoned when Iraqi army soldiers ran from the Islamic State. We’ve “accidentally” dropped weapons to ISIS while supposedly aiming for friendly groups.

We’ve trained so called “moderates” and equipped them only to have them hand over their equipment to the enemy. And so, the ridiculous policy of this administration continues with the pipeline of weapons to the wrong hands.  Why are we arming the enemy?
