“Armed and Extremely Dangerous” Suspect At Large After Murdering Maine Deputy

Norridgewock, Maine: A Maine deputy was murdered Wednesday morning, and the suspect is at large. Somerset County Sheriff Cpl. Eugene Cole was murdered and his patrol car stolen, allegedly by a man named John Williams. Currently a heavy police presence is converging in the area where he was last seen.

After fatally shooting the deputy and leaving his body on the side of the road, Williams drove to Cumberland Farms and robbed the store, then dumped the patrol car. The patrol vehicle was located at around 5 a.m. near Martin Stream rd. The deputy’s body was found at around 7:15 a.m.

Police launched a manhunt. The Sheriff believes the suspect is still in the area, and in the last few hours, police have taped off an area around Bear Mountain road.

Police indicated there are about 200 officers searching for Williams, and are asking people to not approach him if encountered. Schools have additional officers present at this time until he is captured. Roadblocks are in place around the area.
