American Held in Venezuelan Prison Is On His Way Home

 In Foreign

Saturday President Trump released the news that Joshua Holt, an American that has been held in a Venezuelan prison for two years, is on his way home, along with his wife Thamala Candelo.

The Senators and others all worked to get Holt out of Venezuela after authorities arrested Joshua and his wife Thamara in June of 2016 on weapons charges. Thamara is a Venzuelan citizen  – Holt had gone to that country to get married.

According to Fox news,

“Venezuelan authorities claim Holt and his wife were stockpiling weapons, and have suggested they were part of a U.S. plan to overthrow President Nicolas Maduro. But witnesses say they saw Venezuelan police, accused of demanding $10,000 from Holt and Candelo, plant weapons just before arresting the couple – and announcing the discovery of the arms.”

Senator Hatch stated in a press release:

“Over the last two years I’ve worked with two Presidential administrations, countless diplomatic contacts, ambassadors from all over the world, a network of contacts in Venezuela, and President Maduro himself, and I could not be more honored to be able to reunite Josh with his sweet, long-suffering family in Riverton.”  Senator Orrin Hatch

Senator Hatch also thanked Senator Corker and Caleb McCarry for their efforts in obtaining the release.

Earlier in May Josh Holt had a secret video smuggled out of the prison that revealed he was afraid for his life.  That’s when things appear to have kicked into high gear. He will meet with President Trump tonight at the White House then will be winging his way toward home in Utah.
