Al-Shabaab terrorists ram truck bomb into Mogadishu Hotel, Multiple Casualties

Al-Shabaab terrorists rammed a truck bomb through the gate of the Dayah Hotel in Mogadishu, killing at least 28 and wounding 43 others. After the first blast, the terrorists stormed inside the hotel. When a second blast detonated, several journalists and numerous civilians were injured.

SOFREP reported,

The East African jihadist group known as Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen attacked the Dayah Hotel in a brazen daylight raid in the capital city of Mogadishu Somalia on Wednesday. The hotel which is popular with westerners along with members of the Somali Parliament was hit by a vehicle born improvised explosive that rammed the front gate then detonated leaving an entry point that al-Shabaab fighters used to storm the hotel compound.

Witnesses and survivors alike described the scene as “total chaos” as al-Shabaab terrorists quickly ran through the hotel targeting groups of unarmed civilians with indiscriminate AK-47 fire leaving 20 dead and scores more wounded.

The hotel is popular with government officials, and many members of the Somalian Parliament were feared inside when the attack occurred. According to Radio Dalsan, all of the Parliamentary members were accounted for and evacuated. The terrorists reportedly went room to room, kicking in doors and shooting anyone inside.

As Somali forces engaged the militants, a second blast occurred, which caused several journalists to be injured.

The tactic is a familiar one of the terror group, as it seeks to return Mogadishu to their control.
