Adam Putnam’s Commitment to our Veterans – Operation Outdoor Freedom
Adam Putnam, Florida’s frontrunner gubernatorial candidate, has a top priority – making Florida the most military and veteran-friendly state in the nation.
Millions of our veterans and active duty personnel have trained in Florida. Adam understands that Florida needs a governor who supports them before, during, and after their service.
As Florida Agricultural Commissioner, Adam established “Operation Outdoor Freedom,” which provides free recreation and rehabilitation opportunities for Florida wounded veterans. Using designated state and agricultural land throughout the state, the initiative has already hosted more than 400 outdoor events for over 3,200 veterans since 2011.
A true leader, Adam Putnam also honors the sacrifice of our active duty servicemen and women by ensuring they have the resources they need to fight terrorism around the world.
Support for those who fought and those who continue to serve our nation is Adam’s top priority. He knows that no one understands our constitutional freedoms better than our veterans, and that’s why he is actively defending their Second Amendment rights when they return home.
Since 2015, Florida has expedited 100,000 concealed carry permits to Florida’s veterans and active duty servicemen and women. Adam believes that if you carried a gun in Iraq or Afghanistan, you should be able to carry one at home.
Since 2015, we've expedited 100,000 concealed carry permits for Florida's veterans and active duty military members. As Governor, I will continue to make Florida the BEST state for our veterans, active duty service members and their families. pic.twitter.com/iIk64udEwz

Military families also make incredible sacrifices, and Adam has made it his personal mission to provide veterans with unique recreational and rehabilitative opportunities to ease them back into civilian and family life.
I had a great time with some great men on our python hunt. I hope we can do it again next year. https://t.co/dKYmclJwpw

Since 2011, Adam’s “Operation Outdoor Freedom” program has offered wounded veterans hunting, fishing, and horseback riding opportunities on designated state and agricultural lands at no cost to them.
I want Florida to be the most veteran friendly state in the nation, and Operation Outdoor Freedom is one small way we can show our appreciation for the men and women who have given so much for our country. https://t.co/G9m64ZEjH2

Adam believes veterans staying active outdoors provides alternative forms of therapy and can help prevent veteran suicide. As governor, Adam says he’ll be committed to making Florida more supportive of veterans by expanding their access to these programs.
